Victorian mansion with 21st century technology

The challenge of old meeting new was definitely the case with this project. A privately owned technology company was relocating to a large Victorian mansion that was being refurbished and refitted for modern working practices and technology.

Solids brick walls, plaster ceilings and timber floors are not usually the best options for ensuring that all the cables, wires and associate technology infrastructure remains hidden the way we like to do things at coodart.

Rigurous design, planning and co-ordination with the development company was key to getting everything prepared and ready for our installation of a lot of new technology, whilst retaining character and many original aspects of the building.

One of the most interesting challenges was the desire to maintain the original plasterboard ceilings and coving, whilst also getting ceiling speakers co-ordinate with both the plaster mouldings and new suspended light fixings.

High quality suspended ceiling speakers fitted with the design and existing architecture perfectly. We also had to meticulously plan cable routes and locations of every element of technology as all the cabling had to be channelled into the existing brick walls.

Meeting rooms weren’t the only part of the project, as a whole building Sonos music system, including outdoor terrace speakers, along with digital signage and room booking displays. The reception signage was even integrated into the original wood panelling.

We loved seeing new life being injected into this building, and the transformation from derelict damp house, to technology ready space ready for a high tech company to develop and expand.
